KEEP COMPUTER VIRUSES FROM SPREADING
Treat attachments differently from email messages.
The odds are slim of receiving a virus within the body of a
routine email. But the risk soars when you open file attachments, especially
from unknown senders. Dont
open attachments from strangers or email
advertisers who send spam.
Scan
floppy disks with an anti-virus program before you insert them into
different computers. Otherwise,
disks can double as hidden carriers of bugs that self-replicate once
they penetrate your computer.
Alert
others of mysterious problems with your computer. Contact your in-house information technology person.
Internet service provider or software maker if your computer
starts acting strangely. Educate
your colleagues about any viruses you hear about.
Stay
alert to problems. Just
because youve escaped previous viral attacks and never experienced a
computer crash, dont grow complacent.
Some viruses take months or years to infect a hard drive. (source: Communications Briefings, Briefings Publishing Group, Alexandria, VA)

PA Building Code Seminar scheduled for August 28th and 29th
2002 was cancelled because the implementation date of the building code
is being pushed back to approximately January 2004 and therefore, the
reason to cancel. The
seminar will be closer to the effective date of the code.

RULES
FOR RESPECTING OTHERS SPACE Most
people station themselves about three to four feet apart when
conversing. To respect
others space.
Work next to colleagues when theyre at their computers, rather
than standing directly behind them.
Looking over someones shoulder can make the person
uncomfortable.
Ask permission to take something from someones workspace.
Dont open drawers or rifle through papers to find what you
need.
Return later if you find someone on the phone.
Dont lurk in the doorway waiting and eavesdropping.
If its urgent, jot call me ASAP on a notepad and either
leave it on the persons desk or slide it under the door.
Wait to sit when you enter a coworkers office.
Dont just plant
yourself in a chair; stand until youre invited to sit.
Gesture with open palms, not pointed fingers.
Finger pointing triggers defensiveness and ill will. (Source:
