TRICKS THAT KEEP THEM ON TRACK

 How can you ensure that your meeting runs on schedule, allowing enough time for each agenda item, but not overdoing any of them? Remember these Tips:

• Let everyone know you're serious about time, Distribute agendas that specify time limits for each topic.
• Appoint a no-nosense moderator. Choose someone the meeting's attendees respect and who'll stick to the agenda.
• Deflect digressions. In every crowd, at least one person insists on discussing an obscure point, Don't let it happen. Tell the person very plainly that the discussion is closed. Offer to discuss the matter privately, but insist that the person respect colleagues' time.
• Fudge a little. When you make uup the schedule, allow 35 minutes for a topic that can be covered in a half hour. You can dvote those few extra minutes to any item that runover.
