2004 STRATEGIC PLANNING MEETING

On February 6th and 7th 2004 eleven members of the board of directors participated in two days of strategic planning.  The meeting was extremely productive that focused on the following areas.

1.         Web Page - Continued upgrading and expansion of our website.  We are hopeful all members have submitted their profiles so your company can explain its services to our members.  We also hope to expand the website to provide for member education and exchange of ideas.

2.         Advertising - The board wants the symbol HBAA to become a household known symbol or name.  The board wants the public to know being a member os the HBAA means you are dealing with a reputable vendor or builder.

3.         Cost Cutting - The board is studying ways to keep costs down.  Many of our member activities, such as the Christmas Party, Golf Outing, Spring Banquet and Family Picnic are being analyzed to offer them to as many members as possible in an economically sound manner.

4.         Home Show - The board discussed the successes of our home show and the possibility of expanding the Home Show to every 2 years instead of every 3 years.  Another suggestion included having a smaller Home Show more frequently at the new convention center.  A committee has been formed to study the Home Show.  Let us know your thoughts.

5.         Health Insurance - We discussed the new IRS approved Health Savings Account and reviewed how this new tax benefit maybe beneficial to our members.  We hope to give you more information on this in the coming months.

The meeting set the stage for many prositive things for our association in 2004.
