H.B.A.A. ANNUAL DUES AND TAXES

Under the Omnibus Budget
Reconciliation Act of 1993, lobbing
expenses are not deductible for federal
income tax purposes. As this relates to
associations, dues paid to associations
will also be non-deductible to the extent
of the association's lobbying expenditures. We are required to notify our members of the portion of their dues that is not deductible based upon these calculations.

Your annual dues payments to H.B.A.A (Home Builders Association of Alleghenies) are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However dues payments may be deductible as ordinary and necessary business expenses, subject to an exclusion for lobbying activity. Because a portion of your dues is used for lobbying by N.A.H.B. (National Association of Home Builders) and P.B.A. (Pennsylvania Builders Association) $72.16 of your dues is not deductible for income tax.
